Manage Drivers

Add Driver

To begin to add a driver click on the Menu icon (𝝣) followed by Drivers in the drop-down. You will arrive at the “Manage Drivers” page where you can easily view drivers as well as manage their accounts.

There are 4 options for adding drivers:

  1. Add yourself as a driver:   this allows you to use the same email address used when creating your merchant account when using a driver account.

  2. Email Invitation:  This allows you to enter just the driver’s email address and send them an invitation email with a registration link.

  3. Manual Registration:  This allows you to enter all driver details manually and complete registration on behalf of your driver.

  4. Share Registration Link:  This allows you copy a registration link that you can share with your drivers through social media or job postings, etc.

Add Self as Driver

Add Self as a Driver: Because you already registered your email address when opening your merchant account, you will need to click Invite Driver followed by “Click here to become driver for [Your Merchant Account Name]

Please Note: GetSwift does not employ drivers!  The GetSwift Driver app will not work (you will not receive jobs) if you are not approved by an employer who is using our software.

Add Driver by Email Invitation

Invite a Driver through Email: This allows you to enter just the driver’s email address and send them an invitation email with a registration link.

  1. To invite a driver, click the Invite button or theInvite Drivers button

  2. Input the driver’s email address and click “Send Invitation”

  3. Your drivers will then be sent an email with a link to create their GetSwift driver account and download the GetSwift driver mobile app.

Auto-Assign to Specific Driver

Driver Match Keys: Allows you to automate assignment of drivers to specific tasks when entering tasks into GetSwift through the API or Batch Upload methods.

For example: If you do daily milk deliveries to local restaurants and cafes, you could upload your daily run sheet into GetSwift which would have driverID already pre-selected in your sheet so once you upload the daily run all drivers are assigned immediately to their deliveries and then smart routing in the GetSwift driver app tells the driver where to go first.

1.  To set Driver Match Keys click on DriversDriver Match Key

2.  Enter an ID for each driver

3.  Set your New Job Driver Notification Method to "Notify Specific Driver" (read more here)

4.  Follow the instructions below, based on your method of entering tasks into GetSwift

Batch Upload

  • In your CSV file, create a column header name “DriverId”
  • Now simply enter in the corresponding Drive Match Key with the specific Task you wish to match them with!

Manual Driver Registration: This allows you to enter all driver details manually and complete registration on behalf of your driver.

  1. To add a driver manually, click Add Driver
  2. Fill in the account information for each driver (including creating a password on their behalf) and an account will be created for them. By adding drivers using this method, you will need to provide the username, password, and mobile app download information to each driver.

Add Driver by Direct Link

Share Registration Link: This allows you copy a registration link that you can share with your drivers through social media or job postings, etc.

  1. Click Add Driver > Scroll to the bottom of the page > Share link using your own channels

Note:  If you are adding drivers via your driver registration link, you might not want everyone with the link  to drive for your account. In this case you can Manually Approve Drivers who have registered.

Manually Approve Drivers

This is a best practice when sharing your driver registration link.

Upon submitting the registration form, drivers will automatically be added to your driver list, and set as “Active” to drive for your merchant account.  To prevent this, and add an additional layer of control to your business and who can driver for you, you will want to Manually Approve drivers who are registering in your Advanced Settings.

1.  Click the check box for Manually Approve Drivers in your Advanced Settings.

2.  Then on the Drivers page, filter to Awaiting Approval and click Approve next to the driver(s) you want to activate.

Manage Drivers

On the Manage Driver page you can view a list of the drivers who you are invited, activated, awaiting approval, deactivated, and even those who are online.  Additionally, you are able to manage their permissions and details.

  • Details: provide the driver payment details, online status, if they on a wage or commission as well as grant you the ability to  revoke a driver if they no longer work for you.

  • Edit Driver Info: such as Name, Email Phone, and/or Mode of Transport.

  • Revoke: to remove driver access and ability to drive for your account.

Driver Actions

When you click into any driver from this panel, you are able to interact with and make modifications to the driver settings on the spot.

For a Driver that is not assigned any tasks: You have the ability to notify a driver of an unassigned job, easily pull the driver’s contact information, among other basic actions including:

  • Taking the driver offline

  • Changing the driver’s capacity

  • Switching the driver between wage and commission

  • Allowing the driver to purchase items at pick-up or restricting them from purchasing

For a Driver that is assigned tasks: There are many other Actions that can be executed by click on the Driver from the Map page, as shown below:

Why I can't see my driver on the map?

This can be due to a number of reasons:

  • Is the driver online on the driver app?
  • Are you in the MENU section of the map?
    • Click OVERVIEW to view your drivers and tasks

  • Is the driver's iphone or android updated and using the latest software?
  • Does the driver have GPS and location services enabled for Swift on your phone?
  • How far away is the driver from the pick up address? Check your merchant general settings to make sure you have not restricted the distance of how far a notification can travel to a driver?
  • Is the driver already doing a job and maybe the operator has restricted the amount of jobs the driver can carry or be notified of until you finish the current job?
  • Try and delete and re-download the app and sign in again
